Roku box rocks
I bought one of those Netflix TV boxes ...it's friggin' sweet as Peter Griffin would say.
The compression on the movies is pretty good too. The only time I saw it really struggle was on very dark, shadowy or smoky subject matter. Otherwise, looks better than broadcast to me.
Yesterday I watched a little bit of "Silver Streak", which sucks so I had to turn it off....a movie called "SixtyNine" no, not a porno, but a thai film noir which was awesome...and started Spiderman 3, which kinda sucks so far as well.
Okay, so it looks like I'll have to choose more wisely, right? Wrong! It doesn't matter what I put in the queue..it's all FREE and UNLIMITED (with a netflix account)...so if it sucks, just move on to something else!

Volvo thinks you're a dumbass
Is there really any way that an intruder can discreetly break into a modern car with a modern security system and wait in the back seat to strangle you? No. The truth is that Volvo can't market this invention the way it is used in real life (e.g. forgetting your baby in the backseat while you get a mani-pedi) because it would imply that people who buy Volvos are jackasses. A couple people have hit on this in the talk around the web too.

Congress passes FISA
If I'm not doing anything illegal I have nothing to fear...right?

(quoted below)
“With one vote, Congress has strengthened the executive branch, weakened the judiciary and rendered itself irrelevant,” said Caroline Fredrickson, Director of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office. “This bill – soon to be law – is a constitutional nightmare. Americans should know that if this legislation is enacted and upheld, what they say on international phone calls or emails is no longer private. The government can listen in without having a specific reason to do so. Our rights as Americans have been curtailed and our privacy can no longer be assumed.”

Digital cinema is coming for you. This would be a perfect venue for a Live Earth-type concert..beam it everywhere at once. I saw Ratatoulli on a digital screen and the best part about the experience was the absence of any commercials. Is this due to the advertisers not investing in a few digital versions of their spots? Or is it because it was a G rated movie?
